Hmmm....What to Blog About Next?

Upon trying to decide where I was going to take the subject of my blog posts, I looked at a few other blogs for inspiration.  I noticed that several blogs about photography seemed to center around two blogging fashions.  The first of those fashions was to blog tips on how to go about photography.  Blogs such as these seemed to be very helpful for those looking to pursue a hobby in photography.  Amongst the topics of some of these blogs were taking pictures at different times of day, how to add perspective and depth to a photo, and even tips about what kind of lenses and equipment an individual should purchase.  I also noticed that quite often, people used their blogs to post photographs that they had taken.  After reading several of these posts and looking at their photos, I saw that they chose to focus on receiving artistic criticism regarding their photography and trying to grow through their photos.  Seeing as I am not a professional photographer and cannot legitimately offer anyone tips through my blog, the second focus appealed to me more.  However, I did not like the idea that my blog wouldn't stand out and be different from other blogs.  Also, I really needed to be able to actually blog, rather than only post pictures, so that I could meet the requirements for my class assignment.  I brainstormed for a little bit and came up with, what I think, is a pretty good idea for a blog.
For the rest of my blog, I've decided that I am going to read about a new photography tip, and then blog about what I learned about how to apply said tip.  I will then try to use what I learned, and will post a picture demonstrating this attempt on a follow up blog post.  I'm hoping that through this blogging technique, I will not only be able to share my photographs with everyone else, but that I will also develop my own skills.  Who knows, maybe I will actually make a hobby out of it.
Well, wish me luck...

  1. Sometimes people only use blogs to publicize their pictures/lives/work, it gets boring and redundant, that's what Facebook is for. Blogging is a good tool to improve your work and receive criticism. I wish you luck and hope that you find some interesting blogs that you can use to pass your assignment. I look forward to reading about what you find.
